Former Mayor and Assemblyman Launches New Cannabis Dispensary in New Jersey

Former Medford Mayor and New Jersey General Assemblyman, Scott Rudder, is embarking on a new venture by opening a cannabis dispensary in Riverside, New Jersey. Riverside, nestled in the greater Philadelphia-Camden area, presents a promising locale for cannabis industry expansion.

Rudder, a Republican, is not new to the cannabis landscape. Having founded the New Jersey CannaBusiness Association in 2016, he has been instrumental in advocating for cannabis legalization. His efforts have earned him recognition, including being dubbed the “Mayor of Cannabis” by NJ.com in 2020.

The grand opening of Township Green, Rudder’s latest endeavor, will see the participation of local officials and dignitaries, including State Senator Troy Singleton. Rudder aims to not only offer quality products but also foster community engagement and boost commerce in downtown Riverside.

The establishment of this retail outlet seeks to breathe new life into Riverside’s downtown business district, providing approximately 20 job opportunities, with a focus on employing local residents. Rudder’s vision aligns with the goal of revitalizing the community while promoting economic growth.

In a statement, Rudder emphasized the significance of Township Green in contributing to the evolution of New Jersey’s cannabis sector. With strong community ties, including the involvement of respected local figures like the retired Riverside Chief of Police, the dispensary aims to set a high standard in safety and service.

As New Jersey advances in cannabis reform, recent developments, such as the approval of regulations for consumption lounges by the Cannabis Regulatory Commission (CRC), signal progress. These lounges are anticipated to enhance the communal experience around cannabis for individuals aged 21 and older in regulated environments.

Moreover, the introduction of digital medical cannabis cards by the CRC reflects a commitment to improving patient accessibility and convenience. The digital cards, set to roll out soon, complement the recent reduction in fees for physical medical cards, ensuring affordability and ease of access for patients.

With Township Green’s inauguration, New Jersey’s burgeoning cannabis industry continues to expand, prioritizing community involvement and regulatory compliance. The establishment adds to the state’s evolving cannabis landscape, poised for further growth and development.
